“Go to that great city, Nineveh.” When Jonah heard that, he felt like God was sending him on a detour from what he felt what was really important. When the book of Jonah was written, the words were intended to confront Israel. They confront the Church today as well. God’s people are His prophetic and missionary people. But living this out is too often seen as a detour from their own plans.
